Roy Kuga is vice president, Grid Integration & Innovation.
Kuga oversees planning, design and execution of PG&E's grid of the future. Kuga heads a team that leverages expertise from Electric Transmission & Distribution, Energy Policy & Procurement, and Customer Care to seamlessly enable deployment of clean, distributed energy resources.
The 35-year energy industry veteran previously served as vice president, Energy Supply Management for PG&E. In that post, he managed the company's energy supply portfolios for electricity, natural gas and greenhouse gas allowances. His responsibilities ranged from wholesale market design to managing the daily scheduling of resources in PG&E's energy portfolio to maintain reliability at least cost. Earlier in his career, Kuga led the company's strategic planning team for electric industry restructuring, and supported the company through California's energy crisis, PG&E's bankruptcy and the building of its renewable portfolio.
He has also worked in the oil and gas and telecom industries.
Kuga was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He earned bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and math from the University of Hawaii, and a Master of Arts in operations research from Stanford University. He and his wife Kathy enjoy cooking, gardening and hiking.
